In May 2007, with much controversy over the battle of TVB and ATV, Virginia Lok has selected 10 potential “fa dans” of the future, including Natalie Tong, Vivien Yeo, Yoyo Chen, Tracy Ip, Aimee Chan, Leanne Li, Angel Sung and Sharon Luk. Selena Li was regarded as the most successful actresses of the 10 selected, as she had more leading roles.

Besides filming series with TVB, Selena has filmed a gospel movie Love is... in 2007 and performed as one of the leads in a broadway musical Angel Grandma in 2009.

In September that year, she has taken a break from the entertainment circle for 3 and a half months and returned to the University of Toronto to finish her degree. She'll return in mid-December to Hong Kong to continue her acting career.

In April 2010, Selena invested $800,000 into opening her own beauty school. Her main reason for opening this business was because she was concerned that her acting career could eventually hit a gradual stop.
